Restyling previews

An existing room shown with new paint, floors, lighting or furniture, so sellers and buyers can see what an update would look like.

What a preview is

A restyling preview starts from a photo of a room as it is today and shows it with changes: tile floors replaced with wood, dark cabinets painted white, a popcorn ceiling smoothed, or old furniture swapped for new. It helps a seller decide which updates are worth doing before listing, and it helps a buyer picture a home that needs work.

Common uses

  • Sellers choosing which rooms to update before going to market
  • Agents showing the potential of an estate sale or a dated condo
  • Interior designers presenting a scheme on a photo of the client's own room
  • Buyers comparing two homes that both need work

Labeling previews

A preview shows changes that haven't been made. If one is used in a listing, it must say so clearly, and the current photo should appear next to it. Many MLS systems have rules about edited photos; check yours before you upload. We name the files so the preview and the original stay paired.

What to send

  • Photos of the room as it is now
  • The changes to show, as specific as you can: product links, paint names or reference photos
  • Whether furniture should stay, go, or be replaced

Questions

Can you show two options for the same room?

Yes. Two versions from the same photo cost less than two separate rooms, and they make the choice easier to discuss.

Is this the same as staging?

No. Staging only adds furniture to an empty room. A preview changes the room itself, so it needs clearer labeling.
